Back from Bivouacs with a Cookie Duster and a letter home.
Aaron Gitis' Army Days, first installment
Dear Mother, Daddy and Toby,
I received your package today. Thanks, but please don’t send any more food. I really like to get letters much better. If I want anything, I’ll ask for it.
I’m really having a swell time tonight. There’s a dance here at the service club now. It just started. The girls here are plenty cute.
They also have places to write letters here, and they furnish the stationary. I’m really enjoying myself. There’s a balcony overlooking the dance floor, and I’m sitting up here listening to the music, writing letters and watching people dance.
I think I’ll go downstairs and dance now.
Love, Sonny
Another father and son that look like each other. I like to see these memories of the not so distant past. Please continue to post.
